HU____MEGJELENÉS: ÁPRILIS 2.

Ink-Jet 2011-ben örökölte meg nagymamájának komolyzenei kazettagyűjteményét. A klasszikus felvételekből álló impozáns kollekciót egy életen át gyűjtötte Celia néni, főleg a romantikus zeneszerzőkre fókuszálva. Nem kellett sok idő ahhoz, hogy a produceri vénákkal megáldott unoka nekiálljon feldolgozni a gyűjteményt. Három pontban foglalhatjuk össze a hat számos kislemezről a tudnivalókat:

1. Minden hang a kazettákról származik. Minden, amit hallotok, az minta. A legtöbb felhasznált részlet igen rövid – egy-egy hang vagy akkord, ill. dallam. A hangok meg lettek gyúrva – gyorsítás, torzítás, filterezés, visszhangosítás, stb. – de minden a klasszikus zenéből származik. Még a dobok is minták, bár ezek rendkívül rövidek.

2. Egy kazetta, egy szám. Mind a hat szám analóg szalagról származik. Minden szám mintákból lett komponálva, mindegyik egy egyedi
kompozíció.

3. Szoftver nélkül. Minden hang samplerrel lett felvéve, átdolgozva, kikeverve, mixelve. Mindez arra kényszerített, hogy kevesebbet foglalkoztam a vizualitással és jobban támaszkodtam a füleimre.

Ink Jet inherited the tape collection of his grandmother in 2011. She was a lifetime collector of cassettes mostly focusing on the work of romantic composers. After she passed her gifted grandson grab her heritage and started to create something special out of it. There are three facts that you should be aware of:

1. All sounds come from the tapes. Everything you hear is a sample. For the most part, these samples are quite short – individual notes and chords rather than longer phrases. The sounds have been processed – pitch-shifted, filtered, delayed, etc. – but they all started out as classical music. Even the drum sounds are samples, albeit extremely short ones that have been significantly warped.

2. One tape per track. Each of the six tracks on Grandma Tapes has its own corresponding sample tape. Furthermore, each track is composed of samples from a single composer, and usually a single composition.

3. No software. All of the sounds were recorded, processed, arranged, and mixed on a hardware sampler. This forced me to work less visually and rely more on my ears.
